PA Motorcycle Rallies for Veterans’ Charities
Now that summer has hit in full force, it’s time for Pennsylvania bikers to hit the streets for our summer road trips. That means it’s time for another Motorcycle Rally PA Roundup, and this time, with Independence Day fast approaching, I thought I would focus on charity events that directly or indirectly assist veterans.
In the course of my career as a Pennsylvania motorcycle accident lawyer, and as an active, long-time member of the east coast biking community, I have met dozens of our fellow riders who have defended our nation around the world.
In fact Veterans have historically been enthusiastic supporters and members of biker clubs, and biker clubs have often taken it upon themselves to return the favor by raising money and awareness for veterans issues.
So, I thought it would be a good time to highlight a few of the PA motorcycle rally options available to you in July and August.
July PA Motorcycle Rallies
Veteran’s Initiative Motorcycle Ride – July 11th, Hanover, PA, 10AM check in: The $40 rider fee for this event gets you a Saturday pass to the Common Ground on the Hill festival, a food and drink voucher, and an entry in the raffle for a Lanikai ukulele from Appalachian Bluegrass. All proceeds help provide workshops and a safe space for veterans from all branches to process their experiences, teach others, and to gain new perspectives from their peers.
8th Annual Fallen Soldier’s Ride – July 12th, Hallstead, PA, 10AM registration: Your $20 pass is good for gift baskets, raffles, and entertainment, as well as an after-ride meal. The ride itself is a 100 mile scenic run through North East Pennsylvania. Sponsored by American Legion Riders of Pennsylvania, proceeds from entry fees benefit families of fallen soldiers and warriors.
Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Pa 22-1 Benefit Ride – July 25th, Muncy, PA, 9:30 check in: A $15 donation grants you access to door prizes, 50/50 drawings, a silent auction, a post-ride meal, and more. Buffet breakfast available during registration. Non-perishable food donations benefit the Keystone Military Family Pantry. Registration proceeds help offset medical bills for Jake, a local combat veteran with PTSD and a combat-related cyst on his brain.
An August Motorcycle Rally PA
Finally, there is one motorcycle rally in PA that takes place in August I wanted to highlight, because it benefits currently deployed National Guard and Reserve troops. Over the last several years, these brave, yet largely unsung men and women have become more and more vital to our nation’s defense. Operation SOS seeks to remedy that situation.
8th Annual Operation SOS Ride – August 8th, Harrisburg, PA, 8AM check in: A $25 riders fee includes a pancake breakfast, raffles and door prizes, lunch, live music, and an 80 mile ride through Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties. Donations of dry goods, and travel-size hygiene products are encouraged, and will be sent to Pennsylvania National Guard and Reserve troops currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Every one of these charities is doing great work keeping the needs of veterans and currently deployed heroes in our thoughts. I firmly believe Pennsylvania motorcycle accident attorneys have a duty to give back to their communities; assisting and supporting our veterans is one of the most important ways for us to do this.
